Privacy and Openness

I really liked the video by Allison! “Can your digital Footprint be erased” That video was an eye opener. It had me thinking, do they have the right to HAVE my information? Well then again I put my information out their, but is it really their right to have it, and then again I must say well I do put it out there. It’s a hard question to answer.

I also liked the points that the panelist made about :
– Changing Privacy Policies
– Protecting your Reputation

I ACCEPT but I don’t read it ! Why do we do that?

The Internet purpose and its advancements

http://http://theweb.demifulcher.com/demicmapthisone.html

My concept map was centered around “Internet.” From the “Internet” I drew from it three names. The three names were Janet Abbate, Cyrus Feild, and Kevin Mitnick. Janet Abbate was Janet Abbate is the Associate Professor of Science, Technology, and Society at Virginia Tech. Janet Abbate is the Associate Professor of Science, Technology, and Society at Virginia Tech. Cyrus Field created the Atlantic Telegraph Company and laid the first telegraph cable across the Atlantic Ocean in 1858. Kevin David Mitnick is an American computer security consultant, author and hacker. Theses three people do not have much in common, but not thing that they do have in common is that are all connected to the Internet. Cyrus Field invented the ETC, the Effective Transatlantic Cable. Janet Abbate wrote an article about Popularizing the Internet, and how internet became an uproar overnight. Kevin Mitnick was an computer hacker.

My HTML – Writing Code

Pretty cool writing in CODE !!!! I haven’t wote much with code but I think when I say it it makes it sound that much cooler. But making the html subdomain, was very easy. I made the subdomain just like I made my “The Internet” subdomain. It did get a little tricky when I had to make it a html, but Groom helped me with that, and now I’m writing in CODE!!!

“Ted Talk”

Talking about the point that he said that we will not have a vocal cord left. I do email, talk, text, blog, Facebook, twitter, instagram and more that I can’t think of right now, but I di believe that we will still be talking. I think its really crazy how much we cut out talking when we communicate, I just named seven different ways that I do it off the top of my head, I’m pretty sure its many more ways to. But when we communicate through other ways to communicate, there is creativity thought out each and every one of them. I can be more creative in my blogs than I can when sending a email but at the end of it all , it all creative.”Creativity is consumed but the Consumer is not a Creator” I really liked that point, we all get on the internet, and consume information, after information but we as Consumers, are not creating anything. Why is that ? He says that it went from Read – Write, to Read only. Well I would say it’s not just Read only, someone is writing out there, I know for a fact there is more people that is just reading the internet, than reading and writing. My favorite thing that Lawrence Lessig spoke of was how he believes the internet is to help spread amateur culture not amateurish culture, and that’s where you get into Intellectual Property and Fair Use. I did like the first video that he talked about, but I was not a fan of the so called “Jesus Christ” video, but it was very creative. The third video was pretty funny, creative as well.

Is Internet Really Changing People

My Cmap is centered around the idea of “What is the Internet,Changing People. Three of the articles that I read own all could relate back to the topic What is the Internet, and Is the Internet Changing people. The three authors of the articles, were Richard Dawkins, Steven Pinker, and Tom McCarthy. Steven Pinker and Tom McCarthy both agreed that the internet was not changing people , as Richard Dawkins did. Richard Dawkins believed that people were gaining knowledge through the Internet. When comparing these three articles I did see that all three authors tell how the Internet is made for us by us, that was something that I didn’t not pick up instantly.

Communication in 50 Years…

Where will communication be in 50 years. Will it all be about robots, will it go back in time and cell phones are distinct? Just how will I be talking when I’m seventy years old? It will be nice to look back on this when I’m seventy years old, if the internet will still be existence. Of course in fifty years cell phones will be way outdated. In fifty years I believe that communication will be so digital. Of course in fifty years Internet will be free and home phones will be extinct!! Fifty years there will be no computers either. It wouldn’t even take fifty years for credit cards to go away, we will use our phones to buy things. In fifty years there will be no money, when you want to buy a piece of gum out of the gumball machine, you will have to reach down and scan your phone, which will deduct fifty cents from your account. How Cool !! Okay, back to communication, there will be absolutely no mail. I believe that communication will be handles off of a little small device, that will not be longer than your middle finger. This device will come in all different shapes and colors and you could print this device off a 3-D printer right at home.

The Internet Reifies a Logic Already There

The article that I read was out of a book entitled, “It the Internet changing the way you think?” The article was very short, but it got straight to the point. The article was by Tom McCarthy. Tom McCarthy is an actor, writer, film director he also has appeared in several movies and TV shows. The article starts off with a questions, the questions is, “How has the Internet changed the way you think?” He answers the question simply as he can, it hasn’t. Jumping to the last sentence which really signifies his answer, ” The Internet reifies a logic that was already there. I really like that sentence and it really justifies, how the Internet is not chaining the way people think. After reading this short article it really made me look at the internet a totally different way. “The Internet reifies a logic that was already there”, the internet doesn’t make anything up the internet is made of by the people and for the people. There nothing new so why would it make us think a different way? The internet doesn’t make us think a different way, the internet teachers us about things and we learn about those things from other people. This was a great article, even though it was very short I really liked it.

History of the Internet – “Hacker Kevin Mitnick is Convicted of Computer Fraud”

Kevin Mitnick

I read this article from the book, “History of the Internet A Chronology, 1843 to the Present.” I found this article in the chapter The Wild Frontier. The title of the article is what caught my attention when searching for the article to read upon. Kevin Mitnick grew up in Los Angeles. The first experience Kevin had with hacking, was when he was in grade school he altered friends grades on his high school computer system, this was in the late 1970s. Soon after Kevin broke into the systems of the North America Air Defense in Colorado, which didn’t cause much trouble with the authorities. Mitnick was found collaborating with DiCicco, a hacker. Agents from the FBI investigates and suspects that Kevin Mitck and DiCicco are hacing into the Digital Equipment Corporations.
Kevin Mitnick was arrested in 1989 for breaking into the Digital Equipment Corporations computer system and for stealing software. Mitnick was convicted and sentenced to a year in prison. After Mitnick was released serious problems start to occur. Mitnick probation officer phone is siconnected, Mitnick judge credit cards records are atlered and his arrest records disappear from the computer. As his adventure persists Kevin Mitnick is known to be the first high-profile computer hacker. Before reading this article I knew nothing about Kevin Mitnick, after reading this article I think he is too cool !!!
