Larry Lessig blew my mind; twice. I watched this video two times in hope that the second time would allow me to grasp his concept of copyright issues along with a vision for reconciling creative freedom with marketplace competition. To be honest, he used words that I did not quite understand which made it kind of frustrating.
Anyways, one comment/statement in particular stuck in my mind from the video. Lessig said the tools of creativity are how our generation speaks, our generation thinks, and who our generation is. This got me thinking. What if there were no laws that restrict, hold back, hinder creativity? what if our generation had the full capabilities of this creative tool? I believe we as a society would be more advanced. I believe that these laws are holding people back from exploring what the future might bring us. If these laws are choking the tools of creativity, how we speak and think, it absolutely has to be choking the future of tomorrow.
